How to Unlock the Door to Assess Your Willingness for Coaching

Are you truly ready for coaching? Are you willing?

To explore this, let’s delve into the five key elements of the House of Willingness for coaching.

1. Acknowledging the Right Time

While any moment can seem suitable for starting coaching, that’s not entirely accurate. Referring to the Wheel of Readiness for Coaching from my previous blog, realising that you’re ready for coaching will positively influence your willingness. However, assessing what else is happening in your life is also crucial. Consider the demands you are currently facing. Are you able to:

– Take on new challenges?

– Embrace different experiences?

If your current situation allows for this, then it’s indeed the right time to take action.

Evaluate your current level of discomfort. How long are you willing to endure your present circumstances? This reflection is essential for determining whether the time is right for you to engage in coaching.

2. Cultivating Self-Belief

Self-belief is a fundamental resource in your toolkit. It encompasses various aspects of your life roles and contributes to your confidence. Do you believe you possess the capability to make the changes you seek?

Self-belief can fluctuate, so assessing whether your overall self-perception is positive or negative is important. A strong, positive self-belief is crucial for taking on new challenges.

3. Embracing Calculated Risks

Consider your willingness to venture outside your comfort zone and accept uncertainty. This involves taking risks that challenge you without overwhelming you.

Are you game?

4. Openness to Change

Being open and willing to explore new avenues is essential. As Marshall Goldsmith wisely states, “What got you here won’t get you there.” Reflect on what changes you may need to implement.

If your goals excite and intimidate you simultaneously, it’s likely a sign that you should pursue them. These intangible factors are key to determining if the moment is right for you.

5. Commitment to Action

The previous points focused on your thought processes, but this aspect is about taking concrete steps. Are you prepared and equipped to act? Do you have the necessary resources to move forward with your coaching journey?

These tangible elements will help you evaluate your willingness to engage in coaching.

Consider what you may need to enhance your readiness for coaching. I invite you to share your thoughts and experiences.
